About Jeff the Killer
Jeff the Killer: Horrendous Smile combines a haunted-house investigation with first-person combat. After a nightmare, strange noises draw you into a house that no longer feels familiar. Jeff and other creatures threaten the search, so finding a useful object and defending yourself can become parts of the same encounter.
The game includes puzzles as well as action. Keep track of the problem you were investigating when a creature interrupts: surviving the encounter gives you a chance to return to that unfinished search.
How to Play Jeff the Killer
Getting Started
- Explore the house and use the pickup control on useful items.
- When threatened, make room to aim and defend yourself instead of continuing to inspect a corner.
- Manage the weapon you have selected, including reloading when needed.
- Return to unresolved objects or routes after the immediate danger has passed.
Controls
| Input | Action |
|---|---|
| WASD | Walk |
| Mouse movement | Look around |
| Left mouse button | Fire |
| Right mouse button | Aim |
| Mouse wheel | Switch weapon |
| R | Reload |
| F | Pick up items |
| Left Shift | Run |
| Left Ctrl | Crouch |
| X | Lie prone |
| Space | Jump |
Practical tips
- Distinguish pickup from movement and stance controls: F handles items, while Ctrl and X change your posture. Pressing a stance key will not collect a useful object.
- Before entering another room, remember where your current investigation stopped. A short note about the unresolved object is more useful than searching the whole house again after a fight.
- Check your weapon after switching. Make a deliberate choice about aiming, firing, or reloading rather than cycling weapons without a plan.
